Adding image assets

If you uploaded a Word document with images, the steps below will already be complete for any images contained in the uploaded document.

Add images, illustrations, and graphics to your book project by first uploading them to the Asset Manager. Supported image files include JPEG, PNG, SVG, and TIFF. TIFF files are converted by Editoria to different formats for performance reasons, and in Epub and PDF exports the size optimized versions of an image are used.

Step one: add images to your book’s Asset Manager

  1. Go to the Book Builder and select the Asset Manager icon from the toolbar; or go to the Editor of any Part, Chapter, or Component and select the image icon from the toolbar.

  2. Select “Upload Images” in the lower left.

  3. Browse to the folder containing your image files. Select a single file or use your operating system’s method for selecting multiple files and select “Open.”

Step two: insert images into content

  1. Go to the Editor of any Part, Chapter, or Component.

  2. Place the cursor in the position where you would like to insert the image.

  3. Select the Upload Images icon from the toolbar. This will display the Asset Manager for the current book project. You may upload new images (see above) or select images that were previously uploaded.

  4. Check the box next to the desired image(s) and select “Insert Image/s.”

  5. To add alt text, place your cursor in the highlighted Alt text box on the image and paste or write descriptive alt text for the image.

  6. To add a caption, place the cursor in the highlighted caption box beneath the image. If no caption is needed, leave this area blank.

  7. To exit the image block, double-click on the image and hit enter on your keyboard. To exit an image caption, place your cursor in the caption and hit enter on your keyboard twice.
